The province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health says if the province’s current epidemiology holds, she sees no reason why trick or treating cannot go ahead this Halloween with the appropriate precautions in place.
Dr. Janice Fitzgerald made the announcement today and says further details will be released soon—hopefully by the end of the week.
In the meantime, the provincial government is working with public health officials in Quebec who are carefully monitoring an outbreak in the Kaniopiskau region near the Labrador West border.
She says special measures orders in the Labrador border region remain in effect. Public health officials in Quebec indicate that the risk of community transmission is low at this time.
There are no new reported cases of COVID-19 in the province today and the daily government releases on COVID-19 numbers will be discontinued, unless and until new cases are reported.
To date, 38,960 people have been tested for the virus.
