Tennessee cannot afford to lose Sunday’s game in Jacksonville. The Titans are coming off a loss to the Browns and are now tied for first with Indianapolis in the AFC South. Jacksonville is on an 11-game losing streak since winning its season-opener, but it has been competitive in most of the losses.
Titans needing to bounce back
Tennessee has been inconsistent this season, even within games. Last week’s loss to Cleveland was a prime example. The Browns threw for four touchdowns in the first half and raced out to a 38-7 lead at intermission. Tennessee seemed to wake up at that point, trimming the lead all the way to six at the end of the game. It was not enough, though, and Indianapolis was able to jump back into a tie at the top of the AFC South standings. The defense continues to be a major problem. There is no pass rush and it shows as the defense is allowing 390.3 yards per game.

The offense has done its job, ranking fourth in the NFL in yards per game. Tennessee is also third in points per game, which is led by the league’s leading rusher. Derrick Henry has tallied 1,317 yards and 12 touchdowns on 271 carries. He is averaging 4.9 yards per touch, but was held to 25 attempts for 84 yards in the first game against Jacksonville. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill has turned into one of the most consistent signal-callers in the game, completing 64.9 percent of his passes. He has a 26-to-5 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Wide receivers Corey Davis and A.J. Brown have become the explosive duo that the organization hoped they would become.
Glennon proving his worth
Jacksonville would probably be better off tanking and hoping the Jets win a game down the stretch. The Jaguars clearly need a franchise quarterback and Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence is going to be the first one off the board. They are giving veteran Mike Glennon his third straight start in this game and at this point, they might as well play for the top pick or second pick. Glennon is the third different starter for the team with rookie Jake Luton and Gardner Minshew having their chances, though Glennon has done a decent job over the last two contests. Jacksonville was within striking distance against Cleveland and Minnesota, but it was not able to grab the win in either game. Glennon has completed 62.3 percent of his attempts for 515 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.

This could be a chance for Glennon to make an impact with how bad Tennessee’s defense is. However, Jacksonville is even worse on defense, ranking dead-last in the NFL. The Jaguars have allowed the most yards and the fourth-most points. They are also giving up 6.2 yards per play, so it is going to be tough for Glennon to keep pace. Rookie running back James Robinson has quietly been one of the most impressive rookies in the NFL, averaging 4.6 yards per carry on 212 attempts. Wide receiver DJ Chark Jr. has been the top target in the passing game, catching 43 passes for 575 yards and four touchdowns.
