First-year head coach Nick Sirianni and his Philadelphia Eagles kick off the 2021 preseason tonight, as they play host to the reigning AFC North champion Pittsburgh Steelers. Mason Rudolph will start in place of Ben Roethlisberger, and he has already seen some action this year. The Steelers played their first preseason game last week against the Dallas Cowboys in the Hall of Fame Game, and walked away with a 16-3 victory.
All eyes will be on second-year quarterback Jalen Hurts tonight, as he has his sights set on convincing his new head coach that he’s their franchise quarterback. Sirianni hasn’t revealed the full plan for Hurts in his first preseason game, but he will be calling plays for the offense. The quarterback situation for the Steelers will be interesting to watch as well, as Rudolph is competing with Dwayne Haskins and Josh Dobbs for the right to back up Roethlisberger.
