The Warriors on Thursday agreed to terms on a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder that will bring Kelly Oubre to the Bay Area.
How does Oubre feel about this?
Well, he reportedly is “hyped.”
The Warriors are acquiring the 24-year-old and his $14.4 million salary through their $17.2 million traded player exception. Golden State is sending the Thunder a top-20 protected 2021 first-round pick.
The deal cannot officially be completed until Sunday when the new league year begins.
Oubre entered the NBA as the No. 15 overall pick in the 2015 draft after spending one year year in college at Kansas.

The former McDonald’s All-American had a fantastic 2019-20 season with the Phoenix Suns, averaging 18.7 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.3 steals over 56 games (55 starts), while shooting a career-high 35.2 percent from 3-point range on 5.5 attempts.
The 6-foot-7 lefty will provide the Warriors with some much-needed versatility as he can defend multiple positions.

It’s unclear if Oubre will start for coach Steve Kerr or come off the bench. Either way, he has plenty of incentive to have a big season as he is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent next summer.
