He’s been feeling sick the whole day,” Red Sox manager Alex Cora said during his noon news conference.Cora said Martinez would be getting tested at the team hotel on Saturday.Martinez landed on the COVID-19 related injured list less than 24 hours after Red Sox rookie outfielder Jarren Duran was placed on the same list.According to Cora, Duran underwent COVID-19 testing Friday night.“We haven’t gotten the results yet, but he’s not feeling great either,” Cora said.Cora said it remains unclear whether Martinez and Duran will be able to fly back with the team to Boston after Sunday afternoon’s series finale in Toronto.To fill Martinez’s spot on the active roster, the team called up catcher Connor Wong from Triple-A Worcester. On Tuesday, the Red Sox placed All-Star closer Matt Barnes on the COVID-19 related injured list but he was reinstated the next day.On Saturday, Cora said he is always concerned about the possibility of a COVID-19 outbreak within the team, especially considering that Boston’s organization has yet to reach the vaccination threshold of 85% that would lift certain restrictions.“Those are personal decisions. This is a topic that I haven’t thought about in a while,” Cora said. “This where we’re at as a group. That’s it. The group has been very responsible as far as doing the right things, taking care of themselves, keeping their circle very small. It’s where we’re at as a team and so far, we’ve been lucky with everything that is going on.”The first game of Saturday’s doubleheader between the Red Sox and Blue Jays is scheduled to start at 3:07 p.m., while the second game is slated to start at 7:07 p.m.The series finale is set to start at 1:07 p.m. Sunday. Boston will then have a day off on Monday before starting a six-game home stand on Tuesday.
