Public health officials are advising of a number of COVID-19 outbreaks at sites in Nunavut and Alberta that employ rotational workers.
The outbreaks involve the Hope Bay gold mine in Nunavut, Syncrude Canada’s Aurora mine site near Fort McMurray and the Methanex methanol plant in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
Rotational workers from any of those sites who have returned to the province in the last 14 days are being asked to self-isolate away from other household members and call 811 for testing.
Those workers must now complete the full 14-day self-isolation period, regardless of their test results.
The rules for rotational workers from Newfoundland and Labrador who work outside the Atlantic bubble do not apply to workers from sites where there is a known outbreak.
