Longtime Warrior Andre Iguodala will be back on the free-agent market this summer, as the Miami Heat have declined the veteran’s team option for 2021-22, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Sunday morning citing sources.
Iguodala spent the past two seasons in Miami after a decorated six years with the Warriors, including winning NBA Finals MVP in 2015.
Even at the age of 37, Iguodala should draw plenty of interest from contenders when free agency opens on Monday afternoon.
The Warriors added a wing with their seventh overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft in Jonathan Kuminga, but Iguodala would make a great fit with the second unit if he ended up returning to the Bay Area.

Without much cap space, the Warriors either would have to dip into the mid-level exception to sign Iguodala or convince him to accept a veteran’s minimum contract to come back.
Iguodala’s tight-knit relationship with Steph Curry is well-documented, and the forward continues to defend his friend’s place among the elite players in the NBA.
The Warriors won’t be alone in pursuing Iguodala in free agency, but a return to the organization he helped win three championships would be a wonderful story, and beneficial to the pursuit of another title.
