Mississippi bettor wins $625,000 after Astros rally late to top Twins in wild-card series – Yahoo Sports

The Minnesota Twins fell apart in the ninth inning on Tuesday afternoon, and at least one baseball fan couldn’t be happier.

The Houston Astros rallied in the ninth inning to beat the Twins 4-1 in the first round of their AL playoff series, which resulted in a $625,000 payday for one bettor in Mississippi.

Astros win after two-out walk

The Astros loaded the bases on Twins reliever Sergio Romo, and quickly took the lead after José Altuve drew a two-out walk to force in the go-ahead run.

An error by Twins shortstop Jorge Polanco extended the inning, and Michael Brantley then secured the three-run win after hitting a single. The loss marked Minnesota’s 17th straight in the postseason.

“These guys know how to battle. They know what it’s like,” Astros manager Dusty Baker said, via the Associated Press. “They know how to win, and they take pride in what they do.”

The Astros now need just one more win to get out of the new wild-card series, which they can do on Wednesday afternoon.

Though that one fan from Mississippi was likely on the edge of the seat during the wild ending in Minneapolis, they ended the day with an incredible payout.

We’ll see if they come back on Wednesday to let it ride.
