Minnesota Wild trade tracker: Wild trade Jack McBain to Arizona for a 2022 2nd – The Athletic

What was supposed to be a year of contention for the Minnesota Wild has become a rollercoaster since the All-Star break. How will that impact general manager Bill Guerin’s approach to the NHL’s March 21 trade deadline? Could the right move steady the ship, and if so what might it be?

The Wild are 4-1-1 in their past six and Guerin indicated during the Wild’s previous skid that his approach heading into the deadline wouldn’t change regardless. He doesn’t want to mortgage the future for a rental he can’t re-sign, doesn’t want to trade his first-round pick and doesn’t want to make a panic move.

Here’s the latest that The Athletic’s Michael Russo is hearing about the Wild’s decisions ahead of the deadline.

Wild trade for Fleury, Middleton

The Chicago Blackhawks are trading goaltender Marc-André Fleury to the Minnesota Wild for a conditional second-round pick that can become a first, The Athletic confirmed on Monday. The draft pick could turn into a first if the Wild reach the Western Conference finals and Fleury wins at least four games in those rounds.
