Michigan football scrapped and clawed its way to a championship saving road win when all or nothing time was on the line in November.
Penn State got off to a hot start, but only held a 3-0 lead after one quarter of play. They had a chance to extend it, but decided to fake a field goal that went for not, leading to a turnover on downs. Michigan football took over and eventually grabbed the upper hand on the scoreboard that the Wolverines carried into the locker room at 7-6.
Things got more interesting in the second as the maize and blue took the opening drive and cashed it in for six. They took it into the fourth when Penn State finally found paydirt to tie it up at 14. The outcome looked bleak for Michigan as they found themselves on the short end of the stick once again.
Three plays later Arnold Ebiketie sacked Cade McNamara causing a fumble that was recovered by the Nittany Lions. Penn State could only manage a field goal by Jordan Stout to jump ahead 17-14 with less than six minutes remaining though. Michigan football was in desperate need of a season-saving drive to keep their Big Ten hopes alive and they got just that.
McNamara found a wide open Erick All on a crossing route that he ran to the house with three and a half minutes left. The defense did the rest by forcing Penn State into a turnover on downs. The Wolverines bled out the clock with a couple of first down conversions to secure the important victory which keeps their title hopes afloat.
