A former pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates was found guilty Thursday of sexual assaulting a girl in 2017 who was 13 years old at the time.
A Westmoreland County, Penn. court found Felipe Vazquez guilty on 10 counts of sexual abuse of children, two counts of unlawful contact with a minor, one count of statutory sexual assault, one count of corruption of a minor and one count of indecent assault, according to Wick News.

The jury did not find him guilty on 10 counts of unlawful contact or communication with a minor.
The jury asked to see pictures and videos of the 13-year-old girl from Florida on Wednesday night while deliberating, according to Wink News.
Missouri authorities arrested Vazquez after the Pirates finished their game against St. Louis Cardinals in February 2019, Yahoo! Sports reported. The pitcher said at the time that he thought the girl was 17, the age of consent.
CBS Sports reported that Vazquez has more charges pending in Florida and Missouri, but as of now, he is facing multiple decades in prison.
In 2019, the girl sent Vazquez a picture of her in her underwear.
“Wow look at you,” he said. “Not the little kid I met three years ago anymore,” the complaint against him said.
Vazquez also faced an additional pornography charge, according to Yahoo. He reportedly sent nude videos and photos of himself masturbating to a 15-year-old girl in his hotel room.
Eventually the girl’s mother found out about the underage relationship after finding a picture of Vazquez in his underwear on her daughter’s phone, according to The New York Post.
Today, the girl is reported to be 17, still considered a minor in most states. Vazquez initially said he did not remember her name when he was questioned by police in 2019.
In Florida, the age of sexual consent is 18 years old, with the age exemption that minors ages 16 and 17 can only engage in sexual intercourse with a partner no older than age 23, according to the official website of Age of Consent.
Missouri’s Age of Consent is 17 years old, making it a violation of the law to have sex with someone 16 and under.
Vazquez was 26 at the time.
