Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said Manchester United’s impending appointment of Ralf Rangnick is “not good news for other teams”.
The Athletic revealed on Thursday that Rangnick has reached an agreement with United to become their interim manager.
Rangnick, who is seen as the ‘godfather’ of modern coaching in Germany, is leaving his job as head of sports and development at Lokomotiv Moscow to take up the role.
Klopp was asked about Rangnick’s imminent arrival at his press conference on Friday and praised the 63-year-old’s work in Germany, describing him as “a really experienced manager”.
“I know him — but usually we don’t talk about things that are not confirmed yet,” said Klopp.
“If you tell me that will happen, I might believe you. Yeah… another good manager is coming to England, so that’s how it is.
“He’s a really experienced manager and built, famously, two clubs from nowhere into proper threats in Germany. He’s done a lot of different jobs but his first concern was always being a coach, actually.
“He’s very well regarded in Germany — and rightly so. United will be organised. It’s not good news for other teams.”
