Montreal’s rap scene keeps producing voices that refuse to be ignored — and Enima remains one of its most commanding. The Quebec rapper, known to fans as the “DZ d’Amérique,” has dropped the official video for “1942”, another heavyweight entry in a catalog built on raw delivery and unmistakable presence.
Hailing from Saint-Léonard and repping the HHQC street rap movement through MMS Records, Enima has spent years turning real-life experience into anthems. “1942” continues that run — a track with the official-video treatment it deserves.
Enima – 1942 [Official Video]
The track: “1942”
Enima doesn’t do half-measures. “1942” arrives as a full official video — the kind of release that signals an artist operating at full confidence. His flow hits with the same intensity that made him a pillar of Montreal’s rap underground, while the production keeps things dark, cinematic, and built for replay.
For longtime followers, it’s another reminder of why Enima’s name carries weight far beyond Quebec. For newcomers, it’s as good an entry point as any into one of French-language rap’s most distinctive voices.
Enima’s lane in Quebec hip-hop
Quebec’s hip-hop landscape has two speeds: the polished mainstream and the street-driven underground — and Enima owns the second lane like few others. From Saint-Léonard to stages across the francophone world, he built his reputation the hard way: relentless output, viral moments, and a fanbase that shows up every single time.
With projects like OPN, De rien, Resilience, and the more recent DZA and Evil World mixtape run, his discography reads like a map of Montreal street rap’s evolution over the past decade. “1942” fits right into that trajectory — battle-tested, uncompromising, and impossible to ignore.
