Founded in 2018, the DawaMafia duo, formed by brothers Zacka and Tali B, will present their fifth album, titled Infréquentable, by the end of the summer. Five albums in five years, not counting the few EPs and the singles launched “so as not to make us forget”, says Tali B. The most recent, Bastard, appeared last month; these rappers are not idle, it is the case to say it. And it pays off: after participating in the collective concert QCLTUR last fall on the Oshelaga poster, they will offer a first concert at the Francos “It’s another step in our career, it’s clear, and it will be probably a show with a lot of spectators, there will be a little stage fright, but a good stage fright! says Zacka
Dark without being threatening, settled but melodic, the sound of DawaMafia could not better embody the spirit of this new rap which does not turn its back on a good well-sung chorus. The guys rap as finely as they sing, which has the merit of making the street chronicles that the duo detail in their songs with precise texts, but never vulgar or raw, more digestible. “There are happier or darker texts”, recognizes Tali B, “but we always try to keep something sunny in our songs”.
