Caitlyn Jenner spoke about being transgender as well as the controversial “Don’t Say Gay” bill in her first appearance on Fox News as an official contributor on Sean Hannity’s program Thursday.
After Hannity introduced the former Olympic decathlete as a “brand new Fox News contributor,” Jenner took a few minutes to share what was discussed when “negotiating” the deal to join the station.
“As you might know I am trans, but I’m not a trans activist,” Jenner said. “That’s just one part of my life. There’s so much more to me.”
She added: “In the midterms coming up, LGBT issues are going to be very big issues and I’m looking forward to covering those, but there’s so much more to me than that.” She noted that being a patriot is one of those things.
Hannity went on to talk about the new Florida law, signed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis earlier in the week, that forbids instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity in kindergarten through third grade. He suggested that parents be able to “opt their kids” into “woke classes after school,” but to first focus on educating kids “with the basics first.”
Jenner agreed. “I’m a common sense person and that’s what you call common sense,” she said, noting she helped raised 10 kids and has 20 grandchildren. “I am all for parental rights.”

Jenner won the decathlon in the 1976 Olympics and gained fame among the famous family on the television show “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”
Fox News Channel announced it hired Jenner officially as a contributor earlier Thursday.
The 72-year-old ran an unsuccessful campaign for California governor last year. The network said she’ll offer commentary and analysis across various Fox News Media platforms.
“Caitlyn’s story is an inspiration to us all,” said Suzanne Scott, Fox News Media CEO. “She is a trailblazer in the LGBTQ+ community and her illustrious career spans a variety of fields that will be a tremendous asset for our audience.”
Jenner won the Olympic gold medal in the decathlon in 1976. She later came out as a transgender and identifies as a female.
She said in a statement she was “humbled by this unique opportunity” to speak directly to Fox’s audience.
