The Chicago Blackhawks have hired Kendall Coyne Schofield as a player development coach and youth hockey growth specialist, the team announced Monday.
The club also announced the hiring of Erik Condra as a player development coach and Juan Gonzalez as the AHL affiliate Rockford IceHog’s strength and conditioning coach.
“Adding talented people with diverse and multi-faceted backgrounds like Kendall, Erik and Juan enhances our operations as we assess the changing landscape of hockey at all levels and continue to build and maintain a system of elite hockey,” said GM Stan Bowman via a team release.
“Each of these individuals brings unique experience to their position, and we are excited to welcome them to the Blackhawks family.”
Coyne Schofield, currently a member of the Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association, brings a career’s worth of success, including an Olympic gold medal, an Olympic silver medal, an NWHL championship and six world championship gold medals, along with a dominant tenure at Northeastern University. She’s also worked as a colour commentator for the San Jose Sharks since last year.
Condra spent eight years in the NHL, logging 372 games for the Ottawa Senators, Tampa Bay Lightning and Dallas Stars, while Gonzalez recently served as strength and conditioning coach for the U.S NTDP.
The club also announced that Meghan Hunter was promoted to director of hockey administration and amateur scout, having previously served as the organization’s senior executive assistant to the senior vice president/GM.
Before joining the Blackhawks, Hunter worked as manager of hockey operations/national teams for Hockey Canada, and served as an assistant coach for the University of Maine’s women’s hockey team and Niagara University’s women’s hockey team.
