HOUSTON — The Astros were one strike away on Tuesday from having to settle for the consolation prize — a strong first outing from Lance McCullers Jr. in his return from the injured list — but a familiar cast of characters did what they so often do, flipping the script with a late-game comeback, and a win.

Carlos Correa’s two-out, 377-foot homer off Josh Sborz tied the game at 2 in the ninth, and Jose Altuve’s grand slam off Demarcus Evans in the 10th lifted Houston to a 6-3 win over the Rangers at Minute Maid Park.

It was the Astros’ 11th win in 15 games. Instead of the narrative centering around the offense that seemed to have taken a rare night off, the storyline that began building during their recent 6-3 road trip can continue: the Astros are still rolling.
