The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has confirmed 7 new case of COVID-19 as of Monday, bringing the local total to 2,631. They say 2,454 people locally have recovered.
Cases increased from 2,624 on Sunday September 20th to 2,631 on Monday September 21st and 91 people are currently self-isolating with COVID-19.
The Health Unit says 1 of the cases is a local healthcare worker, 1 case is a resident of a retirement home, 1 case is in a school, 2 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 1 case is community acquired, and 1 case is still being investigated.

There have been no additional deaths due to COVID-19 as of Monday and the local death toll stands at 76.
As of Monday, the Health Unit lists 3 people as hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex, and 2 hospitalizations are listed at Windsor Regional Hospital.
Retirement Home Outbreaks
The Health Unit lists three retirement homes under outbreak:
- Dolce Vita (Windsor) has 2 staff cases and 5 resident cases (1 additional resident case compared to yesterday)
- New Beginnings (Leamington) has 7 staff cases and 21 resident cases
- Rosewood Erie Glen (Leamington) has 1 staff case
Second School Case
The Greater Essex County District School Board (public board) has announced their first school case at Kingsville District High School as of Monday. The case follows the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board’s first case announcement on September 15th at Stella Maris elementary school in Amherstburg.
